Half Term Overview
Please see the link below to a more detailed overview as to what your children can expect to be getting up to this term. The books we are reading this term are 'You're a Poet' by Sean Taylor and 'Look Up' by Nathan Bryon. We will be writing poems, making information posters and writing in-role.
In Maths, we will be Multiplication and Division, Fractions, Money and Time.
We will also be looking at Plants, What is Means to be a Muslim, Parables, The History of Toys and Life as a Young Queen 200 Years Ago. We will be learning about Money Matters in PSHCE and Dance in PE
Our PE days are Thursday (outdoor) and Friday (indoor). Please make sure your child has a named PE kit with trainers or plimsols. Remember, laces are hard to tie if you haven't learnt how to! Jogging bottoms are advised as we head into the Autumn/Winter months.
In Year 1 we have implemented Continuous Provision to help ease the transition from Reception and allow children to maintain a level of autonomy and independence in their learning. Below is an example of our weekly timetable which may be subject to change.
Reading
Home reading books will be changed or checked once a week. The changing days are indicated on your child's reading folder. Please make sure you are reading with your child every day for at least 15 minutes. They will have read the book in class to build their comprehension and prosody which they can then build on at home. We are also providing books to read aloud to your child to help grow their vocabulary and to expose them to a range of sentence structures whilst encouraging a love of reading!
